Charged EVs | ChargePoint launches next-generation EV charging software platform for fleet and site management

ChargePoint has launched the latest generation of its ChargePoint Platform, a comprehensive software platform designed to manage EV charging infrastructure. The re-engineered solution aims to optimize charging networks of any size, from single sites to global deployments, while integrating with a range of energy systems.

The platform, designed for use by fleet operators, automotive manufacturers, commercial and retail site owners, charge point operators, and energy providers, combines artificial intelligence-powered analytics with modular software packages. The software enables operators to monitor, control and automate charging across diverse charger hardware, including those compliant with the Open Charge Point Protocol.

Technical features include an AI-driven optimization engine that analyzes energy supply, usage patterns, station health, and vehicle data to schedule charging, predict maintenance requirements, support dynamic pricing and reduce downtime. The Waitlist feature manages site congestion by placing drivers in a virtual queue and notifying them when a charger is available.

Operators have access to customizable dashboards, scheduled and ad hoc reports, and an AI-powered data assistant for querying operational data. The platform also offers real-time load balancing, demand response integration, renewable energy compatibility, utility pricing signal support and flexible, rule-based pricing tools for adjusting rates based on demand or energy costs.

System management is facilitated through CMS Suite, which delivers a package of turn-key applications, or CMS Studio, which allows charge point operators to build customizable solutions using modular components. The cloud-native architecture features end-to-end encryption, real-time infrastructure monitoring, and seamless onboarding for any OCPP-compliant charger.

“The ChargePoint Platform has transformed how we manage our EV charging operation,” said Mitch Johnson, Senior Manager of Global Real Estate, Energy and Sustainability at Verizon. “Features like the AI data assistant, enhanced search and instant session details have made data analysis faster and more intuitive. The ChargePoint Platform is helping us achieve our energy management goals more efficiently than ever before.”
