Charged EVs | Toyota Material Handling introduces new lithium-ion batteries for forklifts

Toyota Material Handling, the North American material handling products division of the Japanese automaker, is expanding its portfolio with the introduction of its new 5/35 lithium-ion batteries.

Available in 24 V, 36 V and 48 V versions, the new IP69-rated batteries fit a variety of Toyota forklifts used in industries such as cold storage, food and beverage and manufacturing. The new batteries are designed to operate with high performance in hot and cold environments. They have integrated thermal management for optimal performance in temperatures from -22° F to 122° F.

Dual charge ports offer ergonomic access and single- or dual-charger compatibility. The batteries deliver charging times of up to an hour using dual-cable fast chargers. A dedicated truck connector with drive-away protection eliminates disconnecting during charge.

The batteries feature built-in counterweights and adjustable spacers to ensure fit and balance in a variety of compartments, eliminating the need for separate battery spacers. They have a modular design for easy service and future expansions, and support auto-bypass of modules for uninterrupted operation.

The batteries have UL and CEC certifications for compliance in the US and Canada.

“These new solutions allow customers to reduce operational complexity, ultimately improving their bottom line and benefiting from Toyota’s renowned reliability,” said Damon Hosmer, TMHNA Business Unit Leader and General Manager of Energy Solutions. “Toyota continues to lead by delivering complete and reliable material handling solutions that optimize operations and drive results for our customers.”
