Charged EVs | Vector adds security testing module to CANoe Test Package EV, covering V2G fuzzing and TLS for ISO 1511

Vector Informatik has expanded its CANoe Test Package EV with a dedicated security testing extension for EV charging communication, covering V2G protocol fuzzing and TLS validation across ISO 15118-2 and ISO 15118-20.

The CANoe Test Package EV—Security covers four test domains: V2G communication fuzzing with system-under-test monitoring, TLS fuzzing, TLS protocol tests and custom security tests via defined interfaces. It supports ISO 15118-2, ISO 15118-20, TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.3. The package is designed for automated, reproducible execution and CI/CD pipeline integration, with systematic result documentation built in.

The extension targets a gap that grows as ISO 15118 deployments expand. Features like Plug & Charge rely on TLS and certificate-based authentication to automate charging session authorization—security vulnerabilities in those implementations can affect both vehicles and charging infrastructure. Manual security testing for these protocols is time-consuming, difficult to reproduce and doesn’t fit continuous integration workflows.

Vector says the package helps manufacturers and suppliers meet regulatory and safety-critical requirements alongside the functional testing already covered by the existing CANoe Test Package EV. Further functions are planned.
